Established in 1878, KeyInvest, formerly known as IOOFSA has a long and proud history of serving our members and the community.

Our History

We have diverse business experience in a range of markets, having operated as a credit union, retirement village developer and operator, and mortgage broker, but funds management has always been at our core. We’re not good because we’re old, we’re old because we’re good. We’ve been built on strong foundations of values, governance, community and commercial strategy.

1878
  • The Independent Order of Odd Fellows governed by the Grand Lodge of SA (IOOFSA) commences.
  • Begin providing Sickness and Funeral Funds.
1980’s
  • Launched 10-year tax free bonds, including the Managed Investment Bond (now the KeyInvest Life Events Bond).
  • Entered Retirement Village business, selling the first unit at McLaren Vale lodge.
1990’s
  • Commenced first Funeral Bonds, including IOOFSA Funeral Bond (now the KeyInvest Funeral Bond).
  • Opened IOOFSA Credit Union.
  • IOOFSA became a company under Corporations Law and regulated by Australian Prudential Regulatory Association (APRA) under the Life Insurance Act 1995.
2000’s
  • IOOFSA changes name to KeyInvest Limited.
  • Acquired Money Advisers who joined with Key HomeLoan services to become KeyInvest Lending Services.
  • IOOFSA Credit Union transferred to Community CPS (now Beyond Bank).
2010’s
  • Established the KeyInvest Foundation.
  • Life Events Bond expands to 27 Investment Options.
2020’s
  • KeyInvest consolidates its business through the divestment of its retirement village business to focus on core financial services.
  • KeyInvest merges with Australian Friendly Society Ltd, bringing together two friendly societies with a strong presence in the Australian funeral bond market.
  • KeyInvest completes Australia’s first Additional Tier 1 Capital Raising by a friendly society and acquires 50% of national non bank lender, Keystone Capital Ltd.
