Julian Budden joins KeyInvest Executive team as Head of Risk

19 Oct 2023

Senior finance and banking professional Julian Budden has joined KeyInvest as its Head of Risk this month, and will take responsibility for all the organisation’s risk and governance functions.

With a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration (MBA) qualifications from Adelaide University and a Diploma of Corporate Treasury from the Association of Corporate Treasurers in the United Kingdom, Julian joins from Bendigo Bank where he was the Senior Manager of the consumer division credit risk strategy.

In welcoming Julian to the KeyInvest executive team, Chief Executive Officer Craig Brooke says Julian brings more than two decades of senior level experience across a variety of risk, treasury, finance and banking roles in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

“Julian is particularly adept in regulatory matters associated with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), business and strategic change, and vast experience in relation to capital,” he said.

“As we enter a strong growth phase, we believe Julian will be invaluable in leading these areas.”

“Furthermore, his experience in managing funding warehouse facilities will be critical to some of the initiatives we have with our joint venture partner, Keystone Capital. With new investment products that KeyInvest will bring to the market this year that offer high yield risk-adjusted returns to investors, we are fortunate to have someone with Julian’s background join us.”

KeyInvest acquired a 50 per cent stake in mortgage fund manager Keystone Capital Limited in July 2023, to strengthen Keystone Capital’s standing as a leading non-bank lender and provider of alternative property-backed credit in Australia.

The strategic partnership is seen as a key development in helping people invest in the future of Australia while tackling the lack of housing supply and its underlying funding challenges.

“I am delighted to join KeyInvest and help deliver on the society’s scalable growth strategy,” Julian said.
